Home Visiting

Families need help for a variety of reasons including exhaustion, loneliness, depression, multiple births, lone parenting, domestic violence or ill health/disability. Home Start helps them by offering emotional/ practical support, providing someone to talk to, discuss concerns with & put things in perspective.

In Home Visiting we offer support to families within their Home in a confidential and culturally sensitive way. Support is based on assessed need and respects the diverse range of family structures. Appropriately prepared and trained parent volunteers and staff work together with families to build confidence and self-esteem. Home-Start Redbridge support is available to any families who are experiencing stress or difficulties, who have at least one child under the age of five and live within the Redbridge area.

Our volunteers support their families by sharing their parenting experiences and freely giving their time, friendship and encouragement as well as practical help. They offer a route to accessing information, for example, about nutrition, finances, accident prevention, health and hygiene. They help families access health care services by accompanying them to immunisation clinics, GP appointments and child development checks. Our parents self-esteem and self-confidence is developed and positive parenting is encouraged to aid those parents dealing with behavioural issues.
